Lemoenrietfontein Homestead

lemoen scroll This is the restored Manor house on the historic portion of the collection of farms that comprise Rietfontein. The name has been retained not only to distinguish this homestead from the others, but to pull the thread of local history through to our times and beyond.

What sets this house apart is not only its charm and superior level of comfort, but its position, orientation and the magnificent views from the truly baronial proportions of its verandah, curtained in glass. Lemoenrietfontein is set in amongst a 450-tree olive grove which produces magnificent, nutty oil: an orchard where fruit trees hang heavy in season, green lawns and tall trees.

Two Swedish pot-belly wood stoves, an open hearth braai, and a full-size AGA stove in the kitchen make this house cosy and welcoming. Adjacent to the house is a Lapa, enclosed with reeds from the Rietfontein spring, where you can sit and reflect on the day just passed, while the fire warms the soles of your feet.
