How to get there

How to get there

From Cape Town
From Cape Town on the N1 NORTH past Laingsburg and Prince Albert Road in the direction of Leeu-Gamka and Beaufort West. (Do not turn off to the town of Prince Albert at Prince Albert Road!) Turn RIGHT to Prince Albert 10 km before Leeu-Gamka on GRAVEL ROAD (signposted also as “Prince Albert”). Set your mileage meter. Cross the bridge over Leeu-Gamka River. At 7 km turn left on Seekoegat road. Follow this road for 13km until the road forks: left toSeekoegat and right to Prince Albert. Turn LEFT towards Seekoegat. Follow this road for 8km and find the Guest Farm Spreeufontein on the left. Exactly 500 m after the Spreeufontein farm turnoff, there is a sign board to the LEFT showing RIETFONTEIN. Follow this road for about 8 km through a few farm gates (which must be left as they are found) until you reach the first game fence. Enter and close the gate behind you. You are now on Rietfontein land. Follow the road for 7km to the next game fence gate. Enter and close behind you. Follow the road for about 5km to find Lemoenrietfontein Homestead on the Left. Another 3 km will bring you to the Spykerfontein Farmhouse on your Right, and a further 3km along the road you will find The Old Stables Hunter’s Camp on your Left.

Please note that while a 4x4 vehicle is not required to reach the farm, it is recommended that low suspension/sports vehicles do not drive to Rietfontein Game Farm from this direction.

From Beaufort West or the North
Pass Beaufort-West and take the N12 to Oudtshoorn. Note the roadside milepost distances to Oudshoorn. At 108km to Oudshoorn (68km from Beaufort West) the signboard on your right will read RIETFONTEIN/KOOKFONTEIN. The road is also marked by an electrical sub-station. Turn RIGHT there. Follow the gravel road for 12 km, keeping RIGHT at every fork in the road except the last one.  There is game fencing on either side of the road. Enter and close gate behind. Follow the road past the airfield  where you will find the Kookfontein Homestead on your left.  Cross the dry river bed and IMMEDIATELY after on the RIGHT is The Old Stables Hunter’s camp. A further 3km brings you to Spykerfontein Homestead on the left. A further 3 km along the road is the Lemoenrietfontein Homestead.

Please note that while a 4x4 vehicle is not required to reach the farm, it is recommended that low suspension/sports vehicles do not drive to Rietfontein Game Farm from this direction.

From George
Oudtshoorn, De Rust, Meiringspoort, Klaarstroom, then onto the N12 towards Beaufort West.  Note the mileposts distances to Beaufort West. At exactly 68km to Beaufort West you will see the sign Rietfontein/Kookfontein to the left, as well as an electrical substation. Turn LEFT and follow gravel road for 12km, keeping to the RIGHT at all forks except the last one.  There is game fencing on either side of the road. Enter and close behind. Kookfontein homestead is just after the Airfield. Continue along the road and cross a river bed. Immediately on the RIGHT is The Old Stables Hunter’s Camp. Spykerfontein is 3 km further along the gravel road on the left, and Lemoenrietfontein homestead is another 3km further after that.

Please note that while a 4x4 vehicle is not required to reach the farm, it is recommended that low suspension/sports vehicles do not drive to Rietfontein Game Farm from this direction.
